"Hello Dick & Sabine,

Just a quick email to say many thanks for playing at our reception on the 11th. You were a hit with everyone - particularly the children and their parents I think! I'm sorry that neither of us got a chance to speak to you in person on the day, but we did appreciate hearing your music in the background!
We will certainly recommend you to our friends.

Many thanks again,
Richard & Stephanie Blayne

C18th Pioneer Wedding

C19th Ulster Wedding

We played for a 19th Century Ulster Wedding, dressed as the Harp & Fiddle player above, as part of the Ulster American Folk Park’s ‘Old, New, Borrowed, Blue…’ festival, May 2006.
Later that afternoon we also played for a Pioneer wedding - in ‘Pennsylvania’, but for that wedding we used different costumes and different instruments; a Hammered Dulcimer & a Fife, as in the other photograph.

I’m delighted to say both weddings were great fun to be a part of and the large crowds that attended both, clearly had a wonderful day. These weddings really brought the Folk Park to life & made fantastic use of the setting, with all those amazing old buildings. If you haven’t been up to the Ulster American Folk Park yet, I can thoroughly recommend it cbg4Yee-Haa!

By the way, the long faces on these ‘happy couples’ were in fact due to the length of time it took for the exposure to take place & also because, apparently, back in those days, everyone had ‘rotten black teeth’, so nobody smiled in photographs - ah, the good old days!
